What we dedicate today is what we identify as an Ismaili Centre — a building that is focused around our Jamatkhana, but which also includes many secular spaces. These are places where Ismailis and non-Ismailis, Muslims and non-Muslims, will gather for shared activities — seminars and lectures, recitals and receptions, exhibitions and social events. These meeting halls and lounges, work offices and conference rooms will serve the organisational needs of the Ismaili community. But they will also, we trust, be filled with the sounds of enrichment, dialogue and warm human rapport, as Ismailis and non-Ismailis share their lives in a healthy gregarious spirit!
On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Ismaili Centre, London, the Darkhana Mukhisaheb, Kamadiasaheb, Mukhianisaheba and Kamadianisaheba have shared a video message with the UK Jurisdiction Jamat. To learn more about the Ismaili Centre and the role it has played in the lives of the Jamat, view the video here.

Singalong Saturday
Today we feature 15 year old Danial Sayani playing his version of Happy by Pharrell Williams. “Music is an explosive expression of humanity “ Billy Joel. As a composer and performer, Danial believes music has the power to change a mood; shift a mindset and bring hope to any situation. Music touches people, working from the inside out - when you feel it in your soul, your body lightens, your breath becomes rhythmic and you smile, so much so that it radiates. It is magical.
If you would like to be featured on singalong Saturday please email ice@iiuk.org.

ITREB Thought of the Day: #SaturdaySchool
The al-Masjid al-Haram was built as a sanctuary around the Kaaba in the seventh century and is considered to be the oldest mosque in the world. It has continuously expanded over time, accommodating a growing number of Muslims from across the world who complete the major and lesser pilgrimages, Hajj and Umrah. The first Muslim structure on the site was a wall around the Kaaba, built by the second caliph, Umar, in 638 CE. Succeeding caliphs added partial ceilings, columns, and decorative embellishments. A major renovation was undertaken in 1571, when the Ottoman Sultan Selim II directed the court architect Sinan to make improvements to the building, which are now the oldest remaining parts of the modern structure. Known as the Great Mosque of Mecca, it is today regarded as one of the largest buildings in the world. It can accommodate over 1 million worshippers, and there are plans to expand it further in the coming years.
