The role of the Ismaili Imam is a spiritual one; his authority is that of religious interpretation.  It is not a political role. I do not govern any land.  At the same time, Islam believes fundamentally that the spiritual and material worlds are inextricably connected. Faith does not remove Muslims — or their Imams — from daily, practical matters in family life, in business, in community affairs.

ITREB Thought of the Day: #TuesdayTales
Do you know the story of the Thousand and One Nights? An enraged Persian king, betrayed by his wife, decided to marry a young woman every night and execute her the next morning. When the vizier could not find any more young women, Shahrazad, the vizier’s daughter volunteered to marry the king. Shahrazad loved books. She read history, philosophy, the sciences, the arts; and her favourites were stories and poems. On the night of their marriage, she told the king a story, but at dawn, ended it abruptly on a cliff-hanger. The king, desperate to know what happened next, decided to let Shahrazad live for one more day. The same happened the next night, then one more after that, and so on for one thousand and one nights! After three children and a full education, Shahrazad became the king’s unequalled queen.
