At this difficult time, I applaud, with the highest admiration and gratefulness, the selfless services of all my Jamati volunteers, as well as the doctors, nurses, paramedics and support workers in the AKDN and other health facilities and related programmes: Their exemplary courage, commitment and dedication in extending care and comfort to my Jamat and others, and especially to those who are vulnerable and sick, is an outstanding actualisation of the human values and ethics that all faiths cherish.

Business Mentoring Programme - Mentees & Mentors Wanted
For a number of years the Business Mentoring Programme (BMP) has supported entrepreneurs in the UK Jamat by pairing them with successful Ismaili business mentors who provide advice and guidance to entrepreneurs on their journey.
Due to the recent disruptions to businesses across the country, BMP would like to support members of the Jamat who operate businesses in retail, hospitality, healthcare, technology, real estate and professional services, as well as those who are self-employed.
If you think you and your business would benefit from mentoring, please get in touch! Equally, if you are a business owner and have experience in navigating a business through a period of uncertainty, we would love to speak to you about the prospects of becoming a business mentor. To register your interest, please email us on akepb.bmp@iiuk.org
New Rules for Foreign Arrivals Entering the UK

The government has announced that people arriving in the UK from abroad must self-isolate for 14 days from 8th of June:

  • Arrivals will be required to travel directly from their port or airport of arrival, preferably by car, to an address where they must then self-isolate for a fortnight, which will allow public health authorities to frequently trace and monitor.

  • There will be fines of up to £1,000 for breaking the rules and some repeat offenders could be removed from the UK. Others could be refused entry if they are found to have provided false information.

  • Freight drivers and some medical professionals will be among those who are exempt from the quarantine requirements, as will all those travelling from the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

  • This measure will be reviewed every three weeks.

For more information visit AKEPB’s updates on travelling during the current period.
ITREB Thought of the Day
Mawlana Hazar Imam’s historic first visit to the Tajikistan Jamat took place in May 1995. This first formal encounter of the Imam-of-the-Time with the Tajik Jamat in recent history is celebrated annually every May as Roz-e-Nur, or the Day of Light, and the year 2020 marks 25 years since that momentous occasion. The dismantling of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s and the ensuing civil conflict had led to severe food and energy shortages in the geographically isolated Badakhshan region in the Pamir mountains (pictured). After decades of isolation and waiting, the Jamat greeted Mawlana Hazar Imam with elated joy. Having gone through many years of challenging times politically, economically, and socially, and having also faced difficulty in practising the faith, Roz-e-Nur brought for them a sense of salvation, and renewed hope for the future. Today it is celebrated as a time of happiness and festivity in expressing loyalty to the Imam-of-the-Time, and offering gratitude for his grace and care for all murids worldwide. Learn more.
