My spiritual children should always remain mindful that it is the principles of our faith that will bring peace and solace in these times of uncertainty. I am with my Jamat at all times, and each of you, individually, is always in my heart, in my thoughts and in my prayers.

Close to Home film - Friday 5 June
The film, entitled Al-Khimyah, was written and directed by Prince Aly Muhammad and explores the work of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) in Cairo, Egypt. During a visit to Cairo last year, Prince Aly Muhammad met the AKTC team and local residents of the Darb al-Ahmar neighbourhood, to learn about AKTC’s efforts in the area, most notably, the creation of the 30-hectare Al-Azhar Park, which was opened in 2005.
The film is an account of a city whose foundations were laid over a thousand years ago, which has seen a 500-year-old rubbish dump rebuilt into a lush green oasis, and a poor inner-city district transformed into a thriving community. Close to Home: Al-Khimyah will be screened on The Ismaili TV on Friday 5 June at 6:00 PM (CST).
Sema Yoga Saturday
In Turkish, Persian, Urdu and Arabic, ‘Sema’ translates to ‘listening’. It is important as part of our yoga practice to listen to your body as a moving meditation. Based on a Vinyasa flow yoga sequence, this is an opportunity to connect with the breath and movement of your body. Learn the art of embodied movement and deep relaxation today, Saturday at 10.30am CST via this zoom link.
ITREB Thought of the Day
If you’ve ever woken up before sunrise, when everything is still dark and the busy day has not yet begun, you will have noticed how peaceful it is. Some light may be creeping over the horizon and some birds might be singing gently, but this only adds to the peace. The name as-Salam means the Source of Peace. Allah is peace, a gentle but invincible power that dissolves tension and fills our hearts with ease. The world often feels full of conflict, but we sometimes forget that it is also full of peace. One of the tasks that God has given us here on earth is to be peacemakers. In which situations do you feel peace? The words as-salamu alaykum and shalom aleichem are quite similar. Who says these words, and what do they mean?
