My spiritual children should always remain mindful that it is the principles of our faith that will bring peace and solace in these times of uncertainty. I am with my Jamat at all times, and each of you, individually, is always in my heart, in my thoughts and in my prayers.
Ismaili CIVIC Donates Two Thousand Masks to Support Food Banks
Two thousand face masks were donated by Ismaili CIVIC in May 2020. Of these, one thousand were donated to Faiths United to support food banks serving some of London's hardest hit boroughs during the Covid-19 pandemic. Faiths United is a coalition of faith leaders who have come together in response to Covid-19, donating face masks to the Brent and North Paddington Food Banks on behalf of the UK's faith communities. Read more here. Ismaili CIVIC has been launched in light of the Covid-19 pandemic to lend voluntary support to the communities in which we live. Avoiding Payday Loans
Data published by the FCA shows that the average interest rate on payday loans is over 1000% per year! Such debt can be very dangerous. Here are some things you can do to avoid a payday loan:
  • Ask for a grace period from the people or businesses that you owe money to. Be transparent about your circumstances and be clear on when you can pay.
  • Talk to your employer about an advance on your salary.
  • Consider taking a personal loan with your bank.
  • A final option is to get a cash advance on your credit card. Their annual interest rates are still very high, but lower than a payday loan.

ITREB Thought of the Day
If you’ve ever woken up before sunrise, when everything is still dark and the busy day has not yet begun, you will have noticed how peaceful it is. Some light may be creeping over the horizon and some birds might be singing gently, but this only adds to the peace. The name as-Salam means the Source of Peace. Allah is peace, a gentle but invincible power that dissolves tension and fills our hearts with ease. The world often feels full of conflict, but we sometimes forget that it is also full of peace. One of the tasks that God has given us here on earth is to be peacemakers. In which situations do you feel peace? The words as-salamu alaykum and shalom aleichem are quite similar. Who says these words, and what do they mean?
