When the question of human identity is seen in this context, then diversity itself can be seen as a gift. Diversity is not a reason to put up walls, but rather to open windows. It is not a burden, it is a blessing. In the end of course, we must realize that living with diversity is a challenging process. We are wrong to think it will be easy. The work of pluralism is always a work in progress.

Healthcare Professionals Support Group - 14 June
The Covid-19 pandemic has presented the biggest healthcare challenge of our generation. Whilst striving to provide the best care we can for our patients, many of us have had moments where we have felt overwhelmed, scared and under immense pressure. All healthcare professionals are invited  to an interactive session at 2pm BST on 14 June. Joining us will be Dr Rabia Lalani and Dr Rupy Aujla. We will provide a safe space for individuals to share their personal experiences and talk about ways in which we can improve our mental and physical health and reduce the risk of burnout.
Coronavirus Employment Law - Questions & Answers
The current crisis has led many members of the Jamat to deal with the complexities of employment law. With the Government withdrawing its support for employers and the prospect of a prolonged recession on the horizon, this is an area that will become even more pressing. AKEPB and NCAB have produced a detailed video to help both employers and employees find answers to some of the key questions. Find out more and watch the video now.

The WAP Sisterhood
Last session we looked within and explored becoming aware of our own thoughts and feelings. Now let’s take all that we have learned and discover how different actions and behaviours give different results, how language can lead to different outcomes, and the ways in which we can communicate more effectively to build better bonds with others. Attendance at the previous session is not at all necessary to join this! Join us on Sunday 14 June 2020 at 2pm BST, as we bring you Part Two of our Sisterhood Session: Building Better Bonds in Lockdown. To save your space, click here!
Diabetes Awareness Week
8-14 June is Diabetes Awareness Week, and with the current COVID-19 pandemic this is even more topical. As many as 1 in 15 of us live with diabetes and recent studies have suggested that over 30% of patients who have died from COVID-19 had pre-existing diabetes. Diabetes occurs when you have too much sugar in the blood - if uncontrolled it can cause serious damage to your organs. You can read more about the symptoms and causes here. Cookies and Conversation
Join us on Thursday 11 June at 8:15pm BST for a journey across time with STEP teachers Seema Manji and Adil Mamodaly to explore Sacred Spaces in Human Culture, with an emphasis on the diversity of places of prayer within Muslim Societies. ITREB Thought of the Day
The beautiful names of Allah. Al-Muhaimin means the Guardian: someone who protects and guards us from danger. Al-Muhaimin is the one we call on when we need protection. There are people in our lives who protect and guard us, ensuring we don’t face harm. Often they are family: parents, aunties, uncles, big sisters and brothers. We too are guardians of those younger or less able than we are. Perhaps the clearest reminder of al-Muhaimin are those who guard others not in their family, nor even of the same race or religion. In the past there have been brave Muslims who have protected Christians and their places of worship, and brave Christians who have done the same for Muslims. When have you been protected from danger? Have you ever guarded someone else?
