These are just a few thoughts as I look to the future of Global Citizenship. The challenges, in sum, will be many and continuing. What will they require of us? A short list might include these strengths: a vital sense of balance, an abundant capacity for compromise, more than a little sense of patience, an appropriate degree of humility, a good measure of forgiveness, and, of course, a genuine welcoming of human difference.

Volunteers Week: Thank you to all our volunteers
As a community, we have always exemplified a tradition of voluntary service whether in a uniform or not. Whether virtually, or hand in hand, in an official capacity, or as a favour for a friend, neighbour or stranger. These are all magnificent examples of civil society and civic engagement which make a significant improvement in the quality of life of individuals, and the societies in which we live. To every single volunteer in the Jamat, the Ismaili Volunteer Corps (IVC) and Ismaili CIVIC say thank you to you all!

Weekly WAP Recommends
‘Invisible Women: Exposing Data Bias In A World Designed for Men’ by Caroline Criado Perez
Recommended by Dr. Shaheena Janjuha-Jivraj "Every decision impacting our lives is based on data. We’re educated to respect it, but data has flaws in its development and use: data processing has unintentionally ignored women. The impact is everywhere, from medical training to mobiles. Drawing on real-life examples opens questions around how much women have to fit into a world designed by men for men. This book will drive you to find ways to make decisions that are pluralistic and better for everyone." Buy a copy here.
ITREB Thought of the Day
Did you know, long before the Geneva Convention and Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Muslim jurists laid down a set of fundamental rights for humanity – including women’s rights and the protection of children? Islamic Law, based on the Qur’an and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), articulates a set of protective principles of governance that hold accountable systems and instruments of law enforcement and justice. In Islam, an ethical code defines the faith itself. The sirat al-mustaqim or path of righteousness that every Muslim must walk is clearly laid out in the Prophet’s teachings. It upholds moral behaviour and good character. Above all else, the Prophet’s message charges us to uphold and to defend the sanctity and dignity of human life.
