Let me emphasize a point about the concept of pluralism that is sometimes misunderstood.  Connection does not necessarily mean agreement.  It does not mean that we want to eliminate our differences or erase our distinctions.  Far from it.  What it does mean is that we connect with one another in order to learn from one another, and to build our future together.

As the lockdown eases, how do we plan for a ‘new normal?’ How do we negotiate and adjust to the fundamental changes in our experience of life? This situation can give rise to lots of different, and often difficult, emotions. In this podcast, Shaheena Ormerod-Sachedina from the ITREB UK Waezeen Team, and AKHB member Nurbanu Somani, explore the ways in which our faith can help us accept and work with the different things we may be feeling. The podcast includes inspirational stories and poems from our tradition, and practical tips to help keep faith alive every day. Access this latest episode by clicking here.
ITREB Thought of the Day
Al-Alim is the All-Knowing: Allah has knowledge of all things and knows absolutely everything. We humans are the clearest sign of the All-Knowing. Allah has made a wonderful world and we have been created so that we can seek knowledge to understand the world, and appreciate Allah's Creation. Therefore, by knowing ourselves and our world, we can come to know God. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, “Seek knowledge even as far as China.” This means acquiring knowledge through reading and observing, but it also means turning inwards to seek out truths. Thinking and studying generates one type of knowledge, but there is also a deeper, intuitive knowing that comes from within. The spirit that lives deep inside each of us reflects like a mirror the amazing qualities of Allah described by the 99 beautiful names.
