As you build your lives, for yourselves and others, you will come to rest upon certain principles.  Central to my life has been a verse in the Holy Quran which addresses itself to the whole of humanity. It says: “Oh Mankind, fear your Lord, who created you of a single soul, and from it created its mate, and from the pair of them scattered abroad many men and women…”

Whilst certain lockdown measures are relaxing with the opening of restaurants and shops and people being encouraged to return back to work in certain situations, individuals are urged to remain cautious and continue with good hand hygiene and appropriate social distancing. It is important to remember the safety of yourselves and those around you by adhering to these good practices. ITREB Thought of the Day
Pharmacy: The exploration of science and of the healing arts of alchemy flourished during the early centuries, following the birth of Islam.  In keeping with the hadith of the Prophet (pbuh) reported by Abu Darda - Allah has sent down the disease and the cure, and He has appointed a cure for every disease, so treat yourselves medically – early Muslim societies sought to find healing in nature through science. By the 8th century, a systematic approach to the study of minerals and plants and their application for the treatment of common ailments from poisonous bites to flu and fever was well underway in Damascus at the Umayyad Court. Botany became the central focus for the study of scientific alchemy, specialising “in the collection of all drugs, choosing the very best of each simple or compound, and in the preparation of good remedies from them following the most accurate methods and techniques as recommended by experts in the healing arts.” This 11th century description of pharmacy by Al-Biruni’s could have been written today.
