Allah did choose Adam and Nuh, the family of Ibrahim, and the family of Imran above all people; Offspring, one from the other, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
Sura 4, Ayats 33-34

Eid al-Adha
Today, we observe Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice. On this occasion, we remember Hazrat Ibrahim’s sacrifice and unyielding devotion, and reflect upon the complete trust he had in his Creator.

In the Qur’an, Allah reminds us time and again to put our complete trust in Him. In Surah al-Maida, Ayat 23, Allah says: “And put your complete trust [in Allah], if you are indeed believers.” However, this reliance does not imply that we should not apply our intellect and make efforts to overcome our difficulties. We must do our best, while trusting that the outcome will be what Allah deems to be most appropriate.

Eid al-Adha also celebrates the common humanity and ethical heritage shared by the Ahl al-Kitab – the People of the Book. At a speech made in Houston, USA in June 2002, Mawlana Hazar Imam said: “The shared destiny of the ethos of the Abrahamic tradition that unites Christians, Jews and Muslims is governed by the duty of loving care to help nurture each life that is born to its God-given potential.”

This year, as we share Eid greetings from a distance, let us remember the important message of trust in Allah, and may we continue to strengthen that bond through devotion to our Imam-of-the-Time. The UK Jamati Institutions wish a heartfelt Eid Mubarak to each and every member of the Jamat.

Staying Safe and Healthy- Eid al-Adha
This Eid weekend we can help protect each other from Covid-19 by staying alert. Eid al-Adha is known as the festival of sacrifice. We have all made sacrifices in recent months, in adapting to celebrating festivals and other occasions remotely and virtually. Although Eid is traditionally a time to come together, the safety and health of the Jamat is of paramount importance, and we would urge all members of the Jamat to stay at home and refrain from large gatherings or group celebrations during this time. We should remain mindful of our friends and family members who may be vulnerable or have underlying health issues. It is vital that we all continue to maintain social distancing during festivities and practice frequent handwashing. If you need to leave home, it is important to wear a face covering to protect yourself and others around you. Let’s remain hopeful, as we prepare to celebrate Eid as One Jamat, together at home.
