Performance, as I have already indicated, is to me a key word where both social institutions and commercial enterprise are concerned. Standards of performance need to be monitored and in both spheres a careful and reasoned approach to productivity can help maximise achievement. By productivity I mean the effective application of both human and material resources to the job in hand. It can be as relevant to social institutions as to business.
Reopening of Jamatkhanas
Following the announcement on Eid al-Adha, we are pleased to inform the Jamat that, subject to government guidance, there will be a phased reopening of Jamatkhanas from the end of August and during the month of September. Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing information on the measures that need to be undertaken, in order for us to safely return to our Jamatkhanas. Please stay tuned to Al-Saha every Saturday for updates, as well as the.ismaili/uk  and the IIUK app.
Face coverings
We all have a collective responsibility to protect each other and reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus. One effective strategy is to wear a face covering. From Sat 8 Aug, face coverings must be worn in a greater number of public indoor settings, including places of worship, museums, galleries and public libraries. Your face covering should shield your nose and mouth whilst allowing you to breathe comfortably. It is advisable to always have one with you, in case it is needed. Singalong Saturday with ICE
Ya Mowla Mere Mowla is a song, where the Ismaili Community Ensemble came together to create a tribute in preparation for Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Diamond Jubilee visit to the UK and to the 60 years of his guidance. The musicians wanted to give thanks for all that he does for the Jamat, and the world we live in. The music was created by Shammi Pithia, and the lyrics were written by Fahreen Virani-Pithia and Neena Jivraj-Stevenson. If you would like to be featured on Singalong Saturday please email ice@iiuk.org.
ITREB Thought of the Day
Did you know that many of the conveniences and comforts that we enjoy today were part of the everyday lives of people living in Muslim civilisations a thousand years ago? Many homes had built-in natural air conditioning, inner courtyards, gardens, and terraces. To provide relief from the hot, desert climate, town planners created shade by designing narrow, covered streets, and indoor and outdoor fountains. Muslim engineers invented ingenious ways to control the display and flow of water so that fountains would be beautiful to look at and soothing to listen to. The fountains of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain (pictured), still use the 650-year-old water system designed during Muslim reign.
